L’imprimerie, centre d’artistes est fière de dévoiler la lauréate de la deuxième édition du Prix de la relève en photographie de Montréal : Janie Julien-Fort !
Jeune artiste montréalaise, Janie poursuit une pratique qui nous plonge dans la matérialité du médium photographique et qui questionne son rapport au temps. Janie a convaincu le jury par la qualité de son travail artistique, marqué par l’expérimentation tous azimuts et l’ouverture au renouvellement des pratiques photographiques.
Initié par le Cabinet, espace de production photographique en 2015 et reconduit par L’imprimerie, le Prix est présenté en collaboration avec Occurrence, espace d’art et d’essai contemporains et le magazine Ciel variable. Il vise à accompagner, à reconnaître et à encourager le talent d’ici en offrant une aide concrète au démarrage d’une carrière artistique. La lauréate bénéficiera d’une résidence de huit semaines à L’imprimerie, de l’accompagnement d’un.e artiste mentor, d’une bourse de production, d’une exposition solo à Occurrence, d’un cachet d’artiste et d’un abonnement d’un an au magazine Ciel variable. Cette deuxième édition bénéficie d’un soutien financier du Conseil des arts de Montréal.

L’imprimerie, centre d’artistes is proud to announce the second ever winner of Montreal Emerging Photography Award, Janie Julien-Fort. A young Montreal artist, Janie immerses us in the materiality of the photographic medium as she questions its relationship with time. The quality of Janie’s artistic work compelled the jury with its wide-ranging experimentalism and its openess to a renewal of photographic practices.
Initiated by le Cabinet, espace de production photographique in 2015, and taken on now by L’imprimerie, the prize is presented in collaboration with Occurence espace d’art et d’essai contemporains, and Ciel Variable magazine. It is given in order to recognize, encourage, and accompany a local talent by offering meaningful assistance in the launching of a young artistic career. This year’s winner will benefit from an 8-week residency at L’imprimerie and the support of an artist-mentor there, as well as a production grant, a solo exhibit at Occurence, an artist’s honorarium, and a one-year subscription to Ciel Variable. This second edition of the award is made possible by the financial assistance of the Conseil des Arts de Montréal.
Mention spéciale du jury à Catherine Aboumrad
Le jury du Prix de la relève en photographie remet également une mention spéciale à Catherine Aboumrad, pour l’originalité de sa proposition. Celle-ci se voit offrir une adhésion d’un an à L’imprimerie, en plus d’une résidence d’un mois et du soutien technique.
L’imprimerie félicite les gagnantes et remercie chaleureusement les membres de son jury ; mesdames Raymonde April, Christine Desrochers, Lili Michaud, Jacinthe Robilard et monsieur Éric Bolduc.

Honorable mention to Catherine Aboumrad
The jury of the Montreal Emerging Photography Award would like also to extend an honorable mention to Catherine Aboumrad, for the originality of her submission, and offer her a year-long membership at L’imprimerie and a month-long residency that includes technical support.
